RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS LICENSES

April 1, 2008, Pennsylvania became a NRC agreement state and Alaron's NRC radioactive material licenses became Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Bureau of Radiation Protection licenses.

PA DEP License Number 37-20826-01
On July 15, 2008, amendment 6 of PA-0678 incorporated the provisions of 37-20826-01 into PA-0678 (below).

This authorizes the receipt, possession, storage, repackaging, and shipping of dry and wet aqueous low specific activity (LSA as defined in 49 CFR 173.403) waste materials. It also authorizes packaging and shipping waste at temporary job sites under PA DEP jurisdiction.

This authorizes possession, storage, repair, and decontamination of contaminated equipment, possession of ores and similar raw materials containing source material, possession of sealed sources, and possession of depleted uranium metal at our Wampum facility and at temporary job sites under Pennsylvania jurisdiction.

EPA DETERMINATION OF ACCEPTABILITY
Alaron received written notification on October 9,1994, that an EPA review of Alaron's operations facility (as required by 40CFR300.440, and CERCLA section 121(d)(3)) was completed.

The notice states:
"...has determined that the ALARON Corporation Facility, Wampum Pennsylvania, EPA ID NO. PAD987400157 is an acceptable facility for receipt of any hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant as defined under Sections 101(14) and (33) of the Comprehensive Environment Response, Compensation and Liability Act herinafter "CERCLA waste" generated as a result of removal action under CERCLA"

RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
Alaron will accept material for storage or processing which meets our standard acceptance criteria, can be safely stored or processed, and meets Alaron license and contractual criteria. Material which does not meet general or specific acceptance criteria included in this procedure, RSF-OP-249, may be accepted after evaluation and approval of the material.
